Job Description

Role of Objective:

The Accounts Officer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of Dreamer Trust, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, preparing financial reports, and supporting project and donor accounting. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Zoho One / Tally Prime and possess strong knowledge of accounting principles applicable to NGOs.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Maintain day-to-day accounting records using Zoho One / Tally Prime.
  • Record all receipts, payments, journal entries and bank transactions.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and cash balances regularly.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

 

NGO Accounting

  • Record donations, grants, CSR funds, crowdfunding, sponsorships and program expenses.
  • Maintain project-wise and donor-wise accounting records.
  • Prepare annual budgets and Monitor budget utilization for various projects.
  • Prepare utilization certificates and donor financial reports as required.
  • Support financial reporting for CSR partners and funding agencies.

 

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Income Tax regulations applicable to NGOs.
  • Maintain records relating to 12AB, 80G, CSR funding and other statutory requirements.
  • Assist in statutory compliance including TDS, GST (where applicable), Professional Tax, EPF, ESI and Income Tax requirements.
  • Coordinate with Chartered Accountants and auditors during statutory and internal audits.
  • Maintain proper accounting documentation for inspections and donor verification.

 

Payroll & Administration

  • Assist in payroll preparation and salary processing.
  • Verify employee reimbursements and field expenses.
  • Coordinate with banks, auditors, vendors, consultants, and government authorities when required.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency in Zoho One / Tally Prime.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with online banking and digital payment systems.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance and taxation.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.

Preferred Knowledge:

  • Experience in NGO accounting and donor fund management.
  • Knowledge of CSR project accounting.
  • Budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Audit preparation.
  • Financial reporting for donors.
  • Experience in FCRA accounting and reporting will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B.Com), Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • M.Com, MBA (Finance), CA Inter, CMA Inter or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.

Job Experience:

  • Minimum 2–5 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience working with an NGO, Trust, Society or Section 8 Company is preferred.
  • Proven experience using Zoho One / Tally Prime is mandatory.
