Job Description
The Quality Engineer (Civil) is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities and materials meet the required quality standards, specifications, and regulatory guidelines. The role involves inspection, testing, documentation, and coordination to maintain quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure implementation of quality standards at construction sites
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify work as per approved drawings and specifications
- Check quality of materials received on-site and ensure compliance with standards
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, reports, and inspection records
- Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and consultants for quality-related issues
- Ensure proper testing of materials (concrete, steel, soil, etc.) as per applicable standards
- Identify non-conformities and ensure corrective and preventive actions are taken
- Review method statements, quality plans, and inspection test plans (ITPs)
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality procedures
- Assist in audits and quality assurance processes
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods and materials
- Familiarity with quality standards (IS codes, ASTM, etc.)
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic reporting tools
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering
- 2–5 years of experience in quality control/assurance in construction projects
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in infrastructure/building projects
- Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and documentation
- Certification in quality management (optional)
Work Environment:
Primarily site-based with regular interaction between office and construction locations.
