Key responsibilities
- Transcribe short consumer voice recordings accurately and verbatim or clean-read per project rules.
- Add timestamps and speaker labels when required.
- Apply company transcription guidelines consistently (punctuation, filler words, non-speech sounds).
- Flag low-quality audio, sensitive content, and potential PII according to protocol.
- Review and edit transcriptions from automated systems for accuracy.
- Meet daily productivity and quality targets.
- Provide constructive feedback to the QA team and participate in calibration sessions.
Required qualifications
- Excellent command of English (speaking, listening, and grammar).
- Typing speed of at least 50 WPM with high accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written guidelines.
- Comfortable listening to varied accents, background noise, and informal speech.
- Reliable internet connection (minimum 50 Mbps recommended) and a quiet workspace.
- Ability to commit to scheduled shifts and meet deadlines.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience with transcription, captioning, or data annotation.
- Familiarity with transcription tools (e.g., oTranscribe, Express Scribe) or browser-based platforms.
- Basic understanding of privacy protocols and handling sensitive content.
- Experience tagging speaker turns and time-coding audio.
Training & development
- Paid onboarding with transcription standards, tooling, and QA procedures.
- Ongoing feedback, calibration sessions, and opportunities to move into QA, annotation lead, or conversational analyst roles.
Performance metrics
- Accuracy rate target: ≥ 95% (per project standard).
- Productivity target: X minutes of audio transcribed per hour (set per project).
- On-time completion and guideline adherence.
