Job Description

About the role

As an Entry-Level Speech Transcriptionist on our consumer voice team, you’ll convert spoken audio from consumer voice interactions into accurate, time-stamped text. You will help improve voice models and product quality by producing clean transcripts, flagging audio issues, and following transcription and annotation guidelines.

Key responsibilities

  • Transcribe short consumer voice recordings accurately and verbatim or clean-read per project rules.
  • Add timestamps and speaker labels when required.
  • Apply company transcription guidelines consistently (punctuation, filler words, non-speech sounds).
  • Flag low-quality audio, sensitive content, and potential PII according to protocol.
  • Review and edit transcriptions from automated systems for accuracy.
  • Meet daily productivity and quality targets.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the QA team and participate in calibration sessions.

Required qualifications

  • Excellent command of English (speaking, listening, and grammar).
  • Typing speed of at least 50 WPM with high accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written guidelines.
  • Comfortable listening to varied accents, background noise, and informal speech.
  • Reliable internet connection (minimum 50 Mbps recommended) and a quiet workspace.
  • Ability to commit to scheduled shifts and meet deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience with transcription, captioning, or data annotation.
  • Familiarity with transcription tools (e.g., oTranscribe, Express Scribe) or browser-based platforms.
  • Basic understanding of privacy protocols and handling sensitive content.
  • Experience tagging speaker turns and time-coding audio.

Training & development

  • Paid onboarding with transcription standards, tooling, and QA procedures.
  • Ongoing feedback, calibration sessions, and opportunities to move into QA, annotation lead, or conversational analyst roles.

Performance metrics

  • Accuracy rate target: ≥ 95% (per project standard).
  • Productivity target: X minutes of audio transcribed per hour (set per project).
  • On-time completion and guideline adherence.

How to apply

Submit a resume and a brief cover note describing any transcription/annotation experience.
